Criminal networks are supplying Australian athletes with banned substances according to reports this morning from ABC News.
An Australian Crime Commission investigation has uncovered widespread drug use amongst some professional sporting stars. It is understood that some of the substances being taken are not yet approved for human use.
A year long investigation has uncovered that organised criminal networks are secretly distributing illegal and unapproved substances to athletes, support staff, doctors and coaches.
ABC also reports that in one particular case an entire team is believed to have been doped.
Justice Minister, Jason Clare says "the findings are shocking and they'll disgust Australian sports fans".
A former head of the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority says today is the "blackest day in Australian sport"
