![]() Pope Francis i: Likes to cook and take the bus We have a new pope and he doesn't mind taking the bus or cooking his own meals. I somehow think his culinary days and love of public transport have come to an end. Jorge Mario Bergoglio from Argentina entered into the Conclave as a cardinal and left as a pope. He greeted crowds in Rome's St Peter's Square after being fitted with his new attire. His message to the gathered crowd in St Peter's Square was "please pray for me". Cheers erupted as he gave them is blessing. Bergoglio, who will now be known as Pope Francis is the first Latin American pope and also the first Jesuit to take up the position. An hour earlier, its believed as a cardinal he was treating his fellow cardinals in the conclave to a final BBQ where he showed off his culinary skills. A strong smell of burgers and spicy sausages filled the air as the smoke from the BBQ rose up the chimney to St Peters Square and a loud cheer was heard. Pope Francis, 76, replaces Benedict XVI, who resigned at the age of 85, due to ill health. He said he was not well enough to lead the Church.
