Tánaiste renews An Post contract for handling of social welfare payments at post officesTánaiste and Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton has renewed the contract with An Post for handling cash social welfare payments across the country.
With a value of €54m in 2015, the current contract was signed in December 2013 for an initial two years, with an option for extension for a further four years. "The renewal of this contract underlines the excellent working relationship between the Department of Social Protection and An Post and the quality of the customer service that our customers receive both from the Department and at the Post Office counter. This will help sustain business throughout the whole Post Office network," the Tánaiste said. Donal Connell, CEO of An Post acknowledged the news saying: “We welcome the renewal of this important contract and we are fully committed to providing a top quality service to the Department of Social Protection and its customers".
